XPARTCO WH05X24185 Washer Clutch

The XPARTCO WH05X24185 is an aftermarket replacement clutch for GE top-load washers, and also fits select Hotpoint, Haier, Monogram, and Café models. This clutch engages and disengages the transmission during the wash and spin cycles, transferring the motor's power to spin the basket so your clothes finish damp rather than soaked.

Made of white plastic with a glossy finish, measuring approximately 3"L x 3"W x 1"H. Sold individually and does not include any other parts, such as the shift actuator (our WH03X30517 listing) that works alongside it. Common causes of failure include wear and tear over time, excessive load, or mechanical obstruction. Symptoms of a worn or failing clutch include clothes coming out wet even after a completed spin cycle, a slight burning odor during operation, or issues with spinning or agitating. It directly replaces WH05X24185, 4588013, AGE26046, AP5993402, EAP11729473, PD00043605, PS11729473.

Quick Answer

The XPARTCO WH05X24185 Washer Clutch fixes GE, Hotpoint, Haier, Monogram, and Café top-load washers where clothes come out wet after spinning, there's a slight burning odor during operation, or the washer has trouble spinning or agitating. White plastic, glossy finish, ~3"L x 3"W x 1"H. Sold individually. Replaces WH05X24185, 4588013, AGE26046, AP5993402, EAP11729473, PD00043605, PS11729473. If you also see grease pooling on the floor under the washer, that's more likely a transmission gearcase leak than this clutch — and if the agitator only slips in one direction, check the agitator bolt before assuming the clutch has failed.

Common Problems This Part Fixes

  • Clothes coming out wet even after a completed spin cycle
  • Slight burning odor during operation
  • Washer having trouble spinning or agitating
  • Reduced washer performance from clutch wear
  • Grinding or unusual noise tied to the transmission area

Compatibility

This clutch is compatible with select GE top-load washers, and also fits select Hotpoint, Haier, Monogram, and Café washers built on the GE platform.

Note: This clutch is commonly replaced alongside our WH03X30517 shift actuator, since the two work together in the same wash/spin transition system, but they are sold separately. If your washer also isn't switching between agitation and spin, check the actuator as well. Always verify your full model number before ordering. Installation Notes

⚠️ Unplug Washer Before Starting Disconnect power at the outlet before beginning to cut off electricity and prevent accidental shocks. Wear work gloves. Remove the two screws at the back of the washer with a Phillips head screwdriver, then pull off the main console and carefully set it aside. Locate the access plate on the transmission side and remove the screws securing it. Take the belt off the pulley and remove the belt guard. Remove the four screws that secure the clutch and take it off from the wet end of the transmission. Install the new WH05X24185 clutch and replace the four screws. Reattach the belt, pulley, and access plate, and replace their screws. Put the main console back onto the washer and secure it with the two screws. Restore power and run a test cycle to confirm clothes are coming out properly damp at the end of the spin cycle, with no burning odor or unusual noise. Tools needed: Phillips screwdriver, socket wrench, work gloves.

Frequently Asked Questions

My clothes come out wet after the spin cycle. Is this the clutch I need?

Yes, this is one of the most common symptoms of a worn or failing clutch. Since this clutch is what engages the transmission to spin the basket at high speed, a worn clutch can slip rather than fully engaging, leaving clothes wetter than they should be at the end of the cycle. A slight burning odor during operation is another documented sign of the same wear.

I noticed grease on the floor under my washer. Is that this clutch leaking?

Not directly — grease pooling under the washer typically comes from the gearcase transmission itself rather than the clutch. If you're seeing this symptom, the transmission may need attention in addition to, or instead of, this clutch, depending on what else you're experiencing.

My agitator slips going one direction but not the other. Is that the clutch?

Not necessarily. This specific symptom — the agitator pulling fine in one direction but slipping in the other — is more often traced to a loose agitator bolt. It's worth checking and tightening that bolt first; if the problem persists, the agitator base hybrid assembly may need inspection before assuming this clutch is at fault.

Is this an OEM or aftermarket part?

This is an aftermarket replacement part built to OEM-equivalent quality standards. It is not a genuine GE OEM part, but is manufactured to match the material, dimensions, and mounting configuration of the original WH05X24185 clutch used in compatible GE, Hotpoint, Haier, Monogram, and Café top-load washers.
